The new BSc Honours Programme

THE CENTRE FOR LABOUR MARKET STUDIES (CLMS)
New BSc (Honours) Degree in Human Resource Management

This is a unique integrated course that allows for entry or exit at any level and provides all the benefits of a University of Leicester degree with maximum flexibility to suit the needs of working professionals. All levels are respected qualifications in their own right, and together they provide a rigorous academic grounding and a coherent career development pathway.

All courses are developed and delivered by reseach-active specialists. As a CLMS student, you will have continual access to the University's resources and tutorial support.

Year 1 Duration approximately 10 months.

Certificate in Training Practice or Certificate in Training Practice and Human Resource Management.

Year 2 Duration 1 year

Diploma in Higher Education in Training and Development or Diploma in Higher Education and Human Resource Management.

Year 3 Duration 1 year

BSc (Hons) in Human Resource Management.

The Certificate courses consist of six modules with six assignments. Each assignment consists of four or five work-based questions. Students draw on their work experience and the course material. Achievement of 60% average or above in assignments gives direct access to the Diploma course.

The two Diploma routes each have six modules worth 20 credits. The first, third, fifth and sixth modules are common to both routes. The second module in the Training and Development Diploma is The Learning Process and Practice of Training and Development, and the fourth module is Training and Management Policy. In the Human Resource Management route, the second module is Organisational Behaviour and Employee Development and the fourth module is Personnel and HRM.

The third year course leading to the award of BSc (Honours) in Human Resource Management consists of four modules worth 20 credits each and a dissertation worth 40 credits, totalling 120 credits for the year. Students can select three of the following options: E-Learning and HRM; Industrial Relations and HRM; Labour Market Analysis and HRM; and High Performance Work Practice. There is a Research Methods Assignment and a final Dissertation.

Entry Requirements
Year 1 -
Certificate
'A' levels or equivalent OR equivalent
relevant experience.
Year 2 - Diploma Certificate (or equivalent) OR 'A'
levels plus 3 years equivalent relevant
experience
OR a qualification equivalent to the
first year of a Bachelors degree from
another institution.

Applicants should be at least 21 years
old, and have some work experience.
Year 3 -
BSc (Hons)
Diploma OR Foundation degree in a
relevant subject.
